Pop in clinic a shot in the arm in the fight against COVID

Every COVID-19 vaccine dose gives us hope of getting normal life up and running again and protecting our friends and family from the virus.

It is important everyone has the jab when it is their turn and to help, health officials in North East Lincolnshire are taking the vaccine out into the community in areas where we know less people are taking up the vaccination.

The first drop in COVID vaccination clinic was held on Grimsby’s West Marsh estate where eligible people could pop in, find out about the vaccination and roll up their sleeve to have the jab on the spot.

“While planning and booking a vaccination suits a lot of us, others may find it easier to attend a drop-in clinic,” explained Dr Ekta Elston, local GP and Medical Director with NHS North East Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Group. “It’s a chance for people to have any questions they may have about the vaccine answered and receive their first dose on the spot.”

The first drop-in clinic was a great success with more than 30 people having their vaccination. Further sessions are being planned as the vaccine programme continues to be rolled out across the local community. These will be publicised widely in the immediate local neighbourhood as dates are set.

People aged 40 and over are currently being offered the vaccine and are being urged not to delay getting their first dose.

If you’re in North East Lincolnshire, eligible for your jab and having difficulty finding a slot on the national booking system, please give North East Lincolnshire CCG a ring on 0300 3000 500 and we will try to help.
