National 2016 Funding Reforms

The Department of Health consulted on the following two aspects of the Care Act’s 2016 reforms:

• The cap on care costs system
• A new appeals system 

The consultation has now closed.  A joint submission to the consultation was made by NELC, the CCG and focus independent adult social work.  A full response to the consultation is awaited.

STOP PRESS: on 17th July 2015, the Government announced its intention to delay until 2020 the cap on care costs system and the new appeals system (the 2016 reforms). Within the Autumn Statement on 25th November 2015, the Government reiterated its intention to implement the cap on costs system in 2020, but further details remain oustanding.
