Change in service for patients receiving counselling support at Freshney Green Primary Care Centre

A counselling support service operating from Freshney Green Primary Care Centre by the Yarborough Clee Care Limited group is to close at the end of May.

Depending on their individual needs, existing patients will continue to be offered appropriate support from other organisations such as Open Minds, MIND and the Alzheimer’s Society.

People using the service will be contacted individually and their options for support explained to them.

While it may well be the case that many people have been satisfied with the support they received, the service was not able to demonstrate that it was able to meet the performance standards or deliver the expected outcomes for patients. North East Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) will cease funding the service in May.

The CCG works closely with mental health provider NAVIGO which offers all aspects of Mental Health services, including accredited interventions and talking therapies, which all local GP practices can refer their patients to. The CCG also works with other organisations and charities that offer a wide variety of tailored support to people during difficult times. These services are monitored routinely through contract and national surveys to ensure consistent quality of service and patient care is provided.

This change only affects counselling services delivered by Yarborough Clee Care. Patients seeing the Community Mental Health Team run by Navigo or receiving treatment for mental health difficulties elsewhere will continue to access their service with no change.

“We realise this change may be unsettling to some people who have been receiving counselling from Yarborough Clee Care and we are working to ensure the right support is put in place to make sure the transition is as easy as possible for them,” explained Helen Kenyon, Deputy Chief Executive, of North East Lincolnshire CCG.
