Time to recognise our nurses here in North East Lincolnshire

Please note the deadline for nominations has been extended till 6th February

People are being asked to nominate a local nurse for the General Practice Nurse Awards 2018 to provide recognition and thanks for the hard work they undertake in our area.

The Patients Choice Award is the chance for people to show their appreciation for a practice nurse who they feel has provided excellent care and kindness and compassion in their role within general practice.

Jan Haxby, Director of Quality and Nursing at the North East Lincolnshire CCG, explained, “ These awards will recognise and reward the vital contribution practice nurses provide in primary care and it’s a great opportunity for us to showcase the high quality of care that our local nurses provide within our GP practices.”

She added, “With this in mind, we would welcome nominations from the public, so if you are a patient, carer or health professional and you feel that a practice nurse or health care practitioner working in a local GP surgery deserves special thanks and to be recognised for their service - please take the time to nominate them for an award.”

The General Practice Nurse Awards 2018 are the opportunity for people to show their appreciation for the work that local nurses do and provide the recognition for the skills, expertise and dedication of practice nurses and for the care and service they deliver in practices across the area.

These awards are being hosted to highlight the key role nurses play in the plan to improve care for patients and ensure the NHS is fit for the future.  NHS England has recently launched a ten-point action plan to recognise and develop the roles that general practice nurses have which transform care. This is backed by a 15 million investment to prioritise and progress improvements in general practice nursing.

To nominate a nurse for the Patients Choice award people need to complete a nomination form and email it to england.gpnawards@nhs.net or use the freepost option provided.

All other category nominations must be made on the appropriate form and submitted electronically. Nomination forms can be accessed here on the CCG website GP Nurse Awards Nominations and the deadline for nominations is 6th February 2018.

There are eight award categories including the Patient Choice Award, allowing local health care practitioners to nominate their colleagues and other nursing professionals they have worked with for the other categories.

Note to Editors

Chief Nursing Officer Professor Jane Cummings has launched a ten-point action plan to recognise and develop the roles that general practice nurses have which transform care and can help deliver the plan to make the NHS fit for the future.

Developing confidence, capability and capacity the ten point action plan for General Practice Nursing (GPN) brings together key actions which aim to meet general practice workforce challenges by attracting new recruits, supporting existing GPNs and encouraging return to practice.

The plan is backed by a £15 million investment and will help target and prioritise where improvements are needed most. It sets out key milestones which will allow progress to be measured across General Practice Nursing for the first time.
