Urgent Care and You Survey: Right Care, Right Place Right Time

You now have the opportunity to share your opinions about improvements being made to local urgent care services in North East Lincolnshire.

North East Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is looking at ways to improve how people access urgent care so that the right care is made available in the right place, at the right time.

They are seeking the views of patients about improvements that have already been made and to inform future decisions about what services should be put in place to provide high quality urgent care in North East Lincolnshire.

Urgent care is for illness or injuries that need immediate medical attention but are not serious enough to require a visit to A&E or an ambulance. The CCG and NHS England commission a range of primary care medical services for people who need immediate medical attention, and keep these under regular review.

Urgent care support is available through a range of services to enable patients to get the care they need. These include Out of Hours GP services, pharmacies, the mental health crisis team, social workers and community nurses. These services can be accessed 24 hours a day, seven days a week by phoning the Single Point of Access (SPA) on 01472 256 256.

Dr Rakesh Patak, Clinical Lead for Urgent and Emergency Care, explained, “Urgent care is a vital part of what primary care can offer patients and we have already made some positive improvements to this element of care in the past year. The most significant of these has been the introduction of the Single Point of Access phone line, and alongside this people can also access an out of hours GP and benefit from extended GP working hours on mornings or evenings.”

“We are keen to see how people utilise the urgent care services we have in place and how they feel about the improvements that have been made so far, and in doing so we hope to understand the ways in which we can improve the service further for patients.”

Dr Rakesh Patak will be joining CCG colleagues and members of the public in discussing urgent care in more detail at a session during the Way Forward 2017 event on 8th March at the Humber Royal Hotel. This session on Urgent and Emergency Care will explore the options and views on the relevance and form that Urgent Care Centres might take in North East Lincolnshire.

Transforming urgent and emergency care is a priority within the local Humber Coast and Vale STP to ensure that people can access the care they need 7 days a week.
